When I first arrived in Uganda 5 years ago, I was amazed by how much Jamaican music was placed at local bars and clubs. I was also amazed by how fascinated people were when I told them I am a Jamaican.
I am a teacher by profession and each year for Festival of World Cultures I would make a Jamaican dish to celebrate my heritage and share with my colleagues. and each year I would get raved reviews for my fried dumplings or my sorrel or ackee and saltfish or my banana chips.
These two things made me decide to open a Jamaican restaurant.
