Karla is a senior high school student from a lower income family in Mexico. Without financial assistance, she will not be able to achieve her dream. She wishes to become a doctor and practice medicine in her community in Mexico. She is determined to attend the ELAM Medical School in Havana, Cuba. If accepted into this school, she would receive a free medical school education and internship including room and board. This school is available to financially disadvantaged, mainly, Latin American students that work hard and show promise. This is not a fancy school, but a large and well recognized school. Room and board consist of a bed in a dormatory, rice and beans meals and $4.00 per month spending money.
