Monday, August 6th, 2018, would have been Joaquin Oliver’s 18th birthday.
Instead, our son Joaquin, lovingly known as “Guac”, was stolen from us as a result of gun violence during a mass shooting occurred at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida this February.
This would have been his year to start voting. While he can’t vote, his voice will not be silenced.
This year, he doesn’t need presents. We need his presence. Sadly, we can’t have that, but you can honor Joaquin’s life by continuing his legacy and ensuring that no other family has to endure our pain.
We don’t want thoughts. We don’t want prayers. We want change.
