A life-altering tragedy like a spinal cord injury can take away much more than just your ability to walk. It sometimes takes away your self-esteem and self-reliance, too. That is what I experienced following my injury that left me wheelchair-bound, depriving me of many simple joys in life that most able-bodied people take for granted.
It was the Empower program that showed me you do not have to limit your possibilities just because of your disability. It made me see that people with disabilities are able to accomplish as much as their able-bodied counterparts when they are provided with appropriate support, the kind of unconditional support that is the hallmark of Empower spirit. So, please help me in my effort to raise money for one of the very few organizations in our country dedicated to the community with spinal cord injuries!
