“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
-Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
When you look back on my life you will find the story of a boy born in a typical middle-class home with a loving set of parents who had dreams to raise a good family based on Christian values. To live modestly and with a purpose to work hard and be happy.
Seven years later, I cried as my mom packed her things and moved north, with my two half-brothers, to begin a new life of their own while I stayed with my other brother and my dad.
For years, I believed that money was the reason for the divorce. My dad was a hard-working, self-made man working to provide for his family while my mom was the type where you give her a dollar and she’ll spend two.
I was raised with three “truths” as a result of watching them while my young impressionable mind went to work sorting out the “realities” of the world.
